LESLYE FOLMAR HARRIS
In the summer of 2019, we launched the CHOOSE Champions: Educator Fellowship to bring together a passionate team of U.S. educators committed to developing racial literacy curriculum throughout all K-12 subject areas. Click below to view educators' profiles and lesson plans!
WHAT HAVE THE CHOOSE Champions DONE?
CollaborateD with like-minded educators
We’re here to learn from and support each other. Throughout the school year, we discussed ideas in both large and small teams.
CreateD (and TAUGHT) Racial Literacy Lessons
Every educator wrote and implemented racial literacy curriculum for their own classroom, incorporating Tell Me Who You Are and other resources.
TestED the book: Tell Me Who You Are
Via conversations and surveys over the phone, we wanted to know how teachers and students are responding to this racial literacy toolkit.
Published their work for free download
Above are the racial literacy lesson plans the CHOOSE Champs made, now free to download for classrooms everywhere. Please credit fairly if you use this work in any way!
Have a lesson plan you'd like us to feature?
Email your racial literacy lesson plans to team@chooseorg.org
We are looking for plans of any size and for any subject, especially but not limited to the use of Tell Me Who You Are.
Selected lesson plans will be featured on the CHOOSE website later this year.
EDUCATOR GUIDE
In addition to the extensive work that the CHOOSE Champions have done, we created a smaller Tell Me Who You Are "Educator's Companion Guide," specifically for educators who care about bringing social justice to their classroom. We envision the toolkit for educators of all subjects and age levels, though we think the book's content makes it most suitable for students in middle school and up.
